This artist painted themselves so often they became a habit. They never left home without a mirror and a brush. One self-portrait shows them with a raised eyebrow, as if caught mid-question.

You can see it next time you’re at the museum: look for “Autoportret” in the corner room, where the lighting makes the wrinkles in the canvas look like real skin. Check it out and decide: does that eyebrow mean “Who is this?” or “What now?”
