Bryan Wynter

Bryan Wynter is an Abstract Expressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Bryan Wynter’s later works drift into semi-abstract shapes and layered washes. Black Escarpment, a 1960 watercolour, piles inky blues and blacks into a cliff-like form that dissolves at the edges. The piece belongs to the loosely grouped British landscape tradition of the 1950s–60s, where artists let colour and gesture speak for place rather than detail.

Tap Black Escarpment to zoom into those stark contrasts and see how a single sheet can feel both solid and dissolving.
