Artist

Leslie Hurry

Leslie Hurry is a Social Realism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Leslie Hurry spent his life hiding in plain sight: a quiet man who painted in bursts, switching from stage sets to watercolors like two different languages. He once told a friend he worked best when “the room feels too small”, a clue to the swirling, crowded energy in his Liberation. That 1945 watercolor is all jagged shapes and leaping figures, like the war’s end finally let loose something pent-up.

Look it up next.
