Charles Luffman

Charles Luffman is a Contemporary Realism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Charles Luffman painted quiet English scenes in watercolour during the 1960s. In Christchurch, Hampshire he set a single lane between half-timbered cottages, their reflection rippling in the river. The rooftops wear moss like an old coat and washing lines cross the foreground like dotted stitches.

A 1966 view of the same town shows the spire leaning into a pewter sky, churchyard yews framing the lane. Tap Christchurch, Hampshire to step onto the bridge and follow the towpath past Luffman’s painted walls.
