His artistic formation included study under the renowned landscape painter Jean Baptiste Camille Corot, as well as instruction from the history painter Paul Delaroche. Desbrosses practiced both painting and engraving throughout his career, contributing to the visual culture of his time through these two distinct yet complementary disciplines.
