M. E. Cole

M. E. Cole is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

This artist drew the same water-powered mill near Stroud, England, for decades, empty at dawn, humming at dusk, always changing with the light. They left no name on the paper but signed every sheet “M. E. Cole,” as if the place itself were the author. A friend would point you to Woodchester Mills in 1893: a single sheet where the building leans like it’s breathing under the sky, the river doing all the talking.
