Artist
W. Nicholls
W. Nicholls is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.
W. Nicholls made prints in the early 1800s, and one of them shows the famous actress Mrs. Siddons. These sheets were produced in London printshops where collectors picked up portraits of public figures to tack above the parlor sofa. The line is crisp and the costume details are sharp: Mrs. Siddons sits in Empire-line dress, one hand resting on an open book.
