Stephen Cox keeps a small watercolor set in his coat pocket and paints wherever he waits, in bus queues, under café awnings, beside slow elevators. He’s not trying to capture a scene; he’s tracing the moment before it decides to move, the stillness right before the bus doors open. Look him up in the 2005 watercolor Oracle (i); it’s the size of a postcard but reads like a whole landscape folded into itself.
