Master of the Annunciation to the Shepherds

Philosoph des Altertums (Heraklit?)
Mathematiker des Altertums (Archimedes)
Christ Disputing with the Doctors

Master of the Annunciation to the Shepherds is an Early Baroque Italian artist. 3 works are cataloged here, principally at Kunsthistorisches Museum.

This anonymous painter made religious scenes in 17th-century Spain. Two works here show Christ at age twelve in the Temple: Christ Disputing with the Doctors and another scene from 1640. Their style mixes sharp folds in clothing with calm faces, typical of Spanish art before Velázquez. Tap Christ Disputing with the Doctors to see the boy’s quiet confidence against the crowded room.
