Master of the Collins Hours

Master of the Collins Hours is a Northern Renaissance artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Museo del Prado.

This anonymous painter made tiny, jewel-like scenes you can’t see all at once. In the Triptych with Scenes from the Life of Christ, they squeezed gold backgrounds and tiny figures into three hinged panels, like a pocket-sized storybook. The paint sits thick in places, thin in others, so light catches the gold and makes the whole thing glow. Wonder what else fits in a palm? Tap the triptych to step inside.
