Mihai Rusu painted official portraits and city scenes in 1970s–80s Bucharest. In Tablou portret Nicolae Ceaușescu, he shows the leader saluting in front of the Romanian flag, flanked by workers. Fabrica de frigidere is a tight view of a factory yard and workers’ housing blocks.
