She drew at night by candlelight, her nib scratching on paper until her fingers ached. In the 1890s she sketched Hasan’s homecoming after years away, showing the moment he steps inside and his wife’s hands still clutching the teapot, no faces needed, just the tilt of his boot and the steam rising between them.
