Mughal Empire

Balchand is a Mughal Empire Mughal Painting artist. 4 works are cataloged here, principally at Cleveland Museum of Art.

Balchand made delicate portraits for Mughal emperors in the 1600s. His Portrait of Murad Bakhsh (1635) shows the young prince seated stiffly in pearls and gold, while Dara Shikoh with his Consort glows with tiny gold flowers. Both men look solemn in lace collars and jeweled daggers. In Jahangir with a Straight Sword, the emperor's armor gleams.
