Alexander Straehuber was a painter and artist active during the nineteenth century, living from 1814 to 1882. A citizen of Cisleithania, he worked across multiple disciplines including history painting, drafting, and lithography. Beyond his own artistic production, Straehuber served as a university teacher, sharing his knowledge with the next generation of creators. His pedagogical influence is noted in his instruction of Wilhelm Leibl and Józef Chełmoński, both of whom became significant artists in their own right. Straehuber's career reflects a dedication to both the creation of visual art and the formal education of others within the academic tradition.
