R Davies

R Davies is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Ruth Drawings kept a pet parrot named Ptolemy who chewed the nibs of her pens. She turned the bird’s beak marks into tiny prints, inking each page with a dry quill until the feathers got stuck in the paper. The March 1809 set of prints shows flaps of beak and wing edges that look like ink splats and snowflakes at the same time.

If you like things that start small and get curiouser, look up H Beard Print Collection, March 1809 edition, and squint at the corners where the parrot’s chewing got wild.
