Eugene Claude

Eugene Claude is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Art of Romania.

Claude Eugene spent his days drifting between Paris cafés and a cluttered studio above a butcher shop, where he painted the same bowl of pears for weeks until the fruit started to rot. He once told a friend the painting should look like it was painted “with a knife and a grudge.” Hunt for his Natură statică in a quiet corner of the Musée d’Orsay, it’s the one where the pears cast shadows sharp enough to cut, and the table feels ready to fold under the weight.
