In 1938 he etched Îndrăgostiții (The Lovers), a tender print of two figures pressed close. The next year he joined the series Tinerii (The Youth) with drawings like Muncitoare (Woman Worker) and Obosit (Tired), plus a small sculpture of a slumped figure. Each piece shows people in quiet, everyday moments rather than grand gestures.
