Sohail used to sit cross-legged on an old charpai in his Lahore studio, painting with the radio tuned to call-in shows so the voices hummed in the background. He turned religious figures into characters you’d overhear at a street chai stall, same sharp wit, same soft light on their faces. Slide your finger over to Mullah at Night; the green lantern behind him casts shadows that look like ink blots you could read for fortune.
