Artist
North Netherlandish
North Netherlandish is a Northern Renaissance artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Art Institute of Chicago.
This painter made religious scenes in the late 1400s, when Northern artists were shifting from stiff Gothic styles to richer oil paint and deeper emotion. Look at Christ Presented to the People (c. 1480), a crowded, dramatic scene of Christ facing a jeering crowd under a moody Northern sky. The figures have sharp folds in their robes and faces that feel almost sculpted.
