Artist

Childs, I.W.

Childs, I.W. is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

I.W. Childs carved crisp, black-and-white prints in early 19th-century London, turning city corners and shopfronts into sharp little records of the 1830s streets. One of those prints, “H Beard Print Collection” from 1832, still shows us the gas-lamp glow on a cobbled lane. If you’ve ever squinted at an old tradesman’s sign or a hackney carriage, you’re already halfway to seeing Childs’ world. Want to step right onto that 1832 pavement? Tap “H Beard Print Collection.”
