Felix Fabian kept a shoebox of scraps under his bed, ticket stubs, napkins, bus transfers, he’d sketch on anything. In 1974 he folded a sheet of paper in half, drew a single continuous line from edge to edge, then unfolded it like a map, leaving the crease as the horizon. Why he did it is anyone’s guess, but the drawing still sits in a folder at the Drawing Center’s archive, labeled simply Untitled.

If you want to see it, ask for folder DC-1974-04; the paper’s crease is softer now, like a spine remembering a long-closed book.
