This drawing shows a stag standing in a thick forest. The ink lines are crisp and deliberate. The animal stands calm, surrounded by tangled branches and leaves. The artist, Jost Amman, was known for book illustrations. He worked in the 1500s, mostly in Germany. This drawing shows his skill with just pen and ink.
