About this work

This painting shows a single flower with long, pointed petals. The center is bright orange and white, fading to soft pinks and blues at the edges. Dark green leaves spread out around it, sharp and slightly fuzzy. The background is mostly black, making the colors pop. The artist used a mix of soft and rough strokes—some areas look smooth, others almost scratchy. The flower sits alone, no dirt or sky in sight. Check out egg tempera, the old paint method used here.
