About this work

This painting shows a chubby, winged baby running away from a swarm of bees. The baby is nude except for a red cloth draped over his left shoulder. He has a blue cord around his neck. The baby's right arm is outstretched, and his left arm is raised to his head. In the background, there are trees, a church steeple, and a cloudy sky. A white banner with gold text arches over the top of the painting. The text reads "A la Pareille." The baby's pose and facial expression convey a sense of urgency and discomfort. The bees are depicted as small, dark dots surrounding the baby's head.
