About this work

This painting shows a small group of people in a shadowy room. One man leans against a wall. Others sit or stand, their faces half-lit. The colors are mostly dark browns and blacks. The artist, Francisc Șirato, often worked in a rough style. He painted this in thick layers of paint. You can almost feel the texture if you look close. This work feels quiet but intense.
