About this work

This sketch shows a woman in a long, flowing robe, holding a bundle wrapped in cloth. Behind her, faint shapes of people lie on the ground. The drawing is loose and sketchy, with light pencil strokes and a few colored highlights. Her face is half-hidden by a veil, and the background looks like a rough, uneven surface. The style feels quick, almost like a first draft. This piece uses a simple drawing technique called stippling.
