This painting shows a loose group of colored shapes on a light background. The colors are mostly earthy—browns, reds, and greens—but there’s also a bright blue and a pale pink. The shapes don’t form anything you’d recognize; they just sit there, some overlapping, others floating apart. The artist used a printmaking method called *monotype*, where ink is pressed onto paper once, leaving a unique mark. That’s why it looks handmade and rough, not polished. Next, check out Julius Bissier to see how he built on this style.
