This is a black-and-white photograph of an old tomb in Baghdad. It shows a quiet corner of a building with arches and worn stone. K.A.C. Creswell made it in the 1930s as part of his careful study of Islamic architecture. Creswell spent years traveling and photographing historic sites. He focused on how arches, domes and brickwork fit together. His photos helped scholars see details that matter. Check out more of K.A.C. Creswell’s work.
