Untitled is a 2014 by Waqas Khan, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
Waqas Khan’s 2014 drawing is a quiet maze of dots and lines. He trained in Lahore where artists use squirrel-hair brushes for tiny marks. Here he swapped that brush for an architect’s ultra-fine pen. Each dot is a deliberate brick in the final picture. He holds his breath while drawing—the ink won’t erase, so mistakes don’t happen. The steady rhythm pulls him into a calm, focused zone. Look up his technique called stippling.
The artwork comprises two overlapping red circles created from minute dots and lines. The inner circle, formed with denser lines, appears more solid, while the outer circle, composed of dots, has a lighter, more dispersed quality. The marks resemble moving micro-organisms rather than uniform shapes. The piece was acquired directly from the artist and his gallery, Sabrina Amrani in Madrid, Spain.
