Untitled is a 1997 graphite by Lee Bontecou, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This drawing is full of strange, floating shapes. Big eyes stare out from round heads. Some shapes have wings or tentacles. The lines are scratchy and uneven, like they were drawn fast. The whole thing sits on a grid of faint lines. The artist packed a lot of movement into still shapes. Everything looks like it’s twisting or about to fly away. Want to see more work like this?
