Large Pendant, Two Fantasy Creatures with Long Tails at Bottom is a 1596 ink by Daniel Mignot, a Renaissance work, held at National Gallery of Art.
This drawing shows a fancy chandelier with lots of swirling metal arms and candle holders. Around it, four strange creatures with long tails and spiky feathers sit at the corners. The top has a twisted rope design, and the whole thing is drawn in black lines on a light background. The artist used tiny lines to add shading, making the metal look detailed. This style was common in the 1500s. Next, check out the technique: engraving.
