About this work

This is a black-and-white photo of a marble bust. The man has a serious expression, a neatly trimmed mustache, and a high collar with a bow tie. The sculpture sits on a simple base, and the background is plain and dark. The photo itself looks old, with a slightly faded edge. The artist who took this photo is John Munsterhjelm. The story of this work

Overview

A photograph is mounted on a green card. It was part of a collection bequeathed by William Kineton Parkes in 1938. Kineton Parkes, a novelist, art historian, and librarian known for his work on sculpture, received the photograph along with others as responses to questionnaires he sent to sculptors in the 1920s. These questionnaires and related materials are now held in the Archive of Art and Design.
