About this work

This image shows a chaotic scene of people in motion, crammed into a tight space. Some figures are reaching upward, others are bent over, and one person in the center seems to be pointing or gesturing urgently. The background looks like a crumbling building with arched windows, and the whole scene is drawn in stark black lines on a light background. Notice how the artist used only lines to create depth and emotion—no colors, just shading and texture. This style was common in prints from the time. Check out woodcut to see how artists like this made prints with simple tools.
