St. Paul's, Fleet Street, London is a 1905 ink by Joseph Pennell, held at National Gallery of Art.
This sketch shows a grand building with a big dome and two tall towers, framed by smaller brick buildings on either side. The dome has a cross on top, and the front of the building has large columns and arched doors. The streets around it look busy, with people and horses drawn in quick, loose lines. The artist used a technique called etching, where they scratched into a metal plate to create the lines. The rough, sketchy style makes the scene feel alive but unfinished. Look up etching to see how artists make prints this way.
Joseph Pennell (July 4, 1857 – April 23, 1926) was an American draftsman, etcher, lithographer, and illustrator for books and magazines.
