The Holy Trinity is a 1740 oil by Pietro Novelli, a Rococo painting work, depicting Holy Trinity, held at Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest.
The painting, titled "The Holy Trinity," features a serene and harmonious composition. At the center, a bearded man, likely representing God the Father, sits on a cloud, wearing a flowing brown robe. He is surrounded by a halo of light and holds a cross in his right hand. To his left stands a nude male figure, possibly Jesus Christ, draped in a white cloth, with a dove hovering above his head. In the foreground, three cherubs are depicted, two of whom are holding a blue and red cloth. The background of the painting is dominated by a cloudy sky, with a distant landscape visible at the bottom. This painting is a great example of the work of artist Pietro Novelli.
Pietro Novelli (March 2, 1603 – August 27, 1647) was an Italian painter of the Baroque period, active mainly in Palermo.
