Vago é mirar, come l'uman pensiero... (Shooting from the Hide) is a 1763 ink by Marco Alvise Pitteri, a Romanticism work, depicting Hunting, held at National Gallery of Art.
This engraving shows a man in a loose coat aiming a long gun through a window. The room behind him is dark except for a single lit candle. His shadow stretches across the wall like a second figure. Pitteri worked in Venice in the 1700s, when prints often told dramatic stories. This one feels like a scene from a play, where the moment before action matters most.
