Orta Kapi or the Middle Gate of Topkapi Sarayi is a 1837 watercolor by Giuseppe Schranz, a Romanticism work, depicting Gate, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This painting shows a grand stone gate with two tall towers on either side. The towers have pointed tops and small windows, while the gate itself has a large arch with colorful details around the edges. A few people in period clothing walk near the gate—some on a path, others near a fence. The gate’s bright colors stand out against the muted stone, drawing your eye. The sky is pale, and trees line the sides, adding greenery to the scene. If you like this kind of detailed architectural art, check out the Victoria and Albert Museum.
A watercolour drawing by Giuseppe Schranz depicts the Orta Kapi, or Bab-i Selam, which served as the entrance to the Second Court of the Topkapi Sarayi.
