Untitled is a 1956 by Sir Alec Issigonis, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This sketch shows a simple, angled car interior with a steering wheel, dashboard, and seats. The lines are loose but clear, giving a basic shape to the car’s inside. Below it, there’s a flat piece labeled “fill in here,” like a placeholder for something missing. The drawing feels like a quick study—just shapes and lines to show how things fit. It’s not polished, but it gets the idea across fast. The artist might have been testing how parts would look before building the real thing. Next, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build up tone with just lines.
A pencil and felt-tip pen drawing by Sir Alec Issigonis from 1956 illustrates a design for the Mini, specifically showing the sub-frame assembly and a new panel positioned in front of the rear wheels. The drawing was one of 165 original works by Issigonis exhibited at the ICA in 1970, where it had been annotated by him in preparation for the display. Later, it was lent to the V&A for the 1984 exhibition titled *Drawing Technique and Purpose*.
