鳥居清満画 初代市川雷藏・二代目坂東彦三郎|Kabuki Actors Ichikawa Raizō I and Bandō Hikosaburō II is a 1767 ink by Torii Kiyomitsu, a Romanticism work, depicting Actor, held at Metropolitan Museum of Art.
This print shows two men in traditional Japanese theater costumes. One sits on a palanquin (a kind of litter) holding a pole, while the other leans back, dressed in layered robes and armor. Around them are buckets and baskets—some stacked, some hanging off the sides. Notice how the artist used bold outlines and simple colors to make the figures stand out. The background is mostly empty, keeping focus on the actors’ faces and clothes. If you like this style, look up cross-hatching next.
