The Paris gallery opened in October 1945 on rue de Téhéran with an exhibition of Henri Matisse's work. In 1946, it hosted inaugural exhibitions for Bonnard, Braque, Marchand, Rouault, and Baya. The gallery organized 'Le Surréalisme' in 1947 and, in 1949, presented 'The First Masters of Abstract Art,' featuring Andry-Farcy's collection from the Grenoble museum. In 1956, Paule and Adrien Maeght opened their own gallery at the current address, 42, rue du Bac, with an exhibition by Alberto Giacometti. This marked the introduction of a new generation of artists associated with the gallery. In 1964, Adrien Maeght established the ARTE printing house in Paris, which has since produced all Maeght editions. The same year, the Fondation Maeght was founded in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, becoming the first privately funded museum of contemporary art. At its inauguration, André Malraux declared: 'This is not a museum, for you have tried to sum up love.' The gallery participated in FIAC 2018, exhibiting Marco Del Re at the Peninsula in Paris.

The gallery continues to present works by historical figures such as Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Georges Braque, Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, Antoni Tàpies, and Eduardo Chillida, alongside contemporary artists including Gasiorowski, Rebeyrolle, Monory, Marco Del Re, Depin, Doerflinger, Couturier, and Levy.
