Frans Pilsen

Frans Pilsen is an artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Victoria and Albert Museum.

Frans Pilsen made 18th-century prints that retold classical myths in crisp lines you could hang on a wall. One survives as The Judgment of Midas, showing Apollo handing the golden-touch verdict to the Phrygian king. Pilsen’s prints were small enough to slip into a pocket or pin above a desk, and every sheet carried the same neat border so collectors could frame them side by side. To see how he turned goddesses and shepherds into everyday tableaus, tap The Judgment of Midas.
