Bartholomäus Dietterlin spent his life tangled in the details, scrollwork, armor, and the way light catches a helmet ridge. He turned the Bible into a stage set where every leaf and latch had to be perfect. They still build German baroque pulpits the way he drew them, page after painstaking page, because he left no margin for sloppy flourishes.
