Menelas Simonidy

Menelas Simonidy is an Impressionism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Museum of Art of Romania.

Born in late-19th-century Romania, painter Menelas Simonidy made calm scenes of women beside the Black Sea. In his 1890 canvas “Femeie pe malul mării,” a lone figure in long skirts and a straw hat looks across gentle waves under a cloudy sky. The brushwork belongs to the quieter side of Realism then drifting through Romanian coastal towns. Tap the next tile to step inside that shoreline light and shadow.
