Tsukioka Sekkei

Tokugawa shogunate, b. 1750

Tsukioka Sekkei is a Tokugawa shogunate artist.

Tsukioka Sekkei was a painter and ukiyo-e artist active during the Tokugawa shogunate, with a lifespan recorded from 1750 onward. His artistic lineage is central to his identity, as he was the child of the artist Tsukioka Settei and the sibling of Tsukioka Sessai. Sekkei further deepened his connection to this family tradition by studying directly under his brother, Tsukioka Sessai. This dual relationship of kinship and mentorship defined his professional path within the Edo period art world. While the end of his life remains undocumented, his role as both a student and practitioner within this specific family of artists is well established.
