Artist
3rd earl of Warwick, Henry Richard Greville

b. 1803
3rd earl of Warwick, Henry Richard Greville is a Romanticism artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at National Gallery of Art.
This English lord only lived a few weeks, but he spent those days sketching riverside oaks that look like they’ve been standing forever. The trees in his single lithograph, Landscape with Old Trees by Water, lean over the water like tired giants, their branches tangled in a way that feels more lived-in than painted. His one tiny print belongs in Gallery Tiles because if you’ve ever stood under gnarled old trees by a slow stream, you’ll recognize the quiet drama he captured in 1803.
