Master H.A. or A.H. is the notname given to an Austrian painter who died in 1599 and is known only by his monogram. Like other monogrammists of the period, he is identified by the initials with which he marked his work rather than by a documented name. He was active in the late sixteenth century, when religious and devotional painting in Austria combined late Gothic traditions with influences from the Renaissance and the art of southern Germany. Beyond the evidence of his signed works, little is recorded about his life or career.
