Artist

Nelkenmeister

Nelkenmeister is a Northern Renaissance artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Gemäldegalerie Berlin.

This Dutch painter signed his canvases with a single red carnation tucked behind an ear, as if to say he was here. He loved a good feast scene, twisted necks, clutched goblets, and a platter of roast head still staring back at the diners. For a real-life version, walk into the Rijksmuseum and stand in front of Herod's Feast; the knife catches the light just like the painter intended.
