P.S. Subak

P.S. Subak painted like they had something to prove, thick, urgent brushstrokes that feel like the artist couldn’t sit still. In Familia Ion C Inculeț (1948), a family portrait hums with quiet tension, their faces half-lit as if caught in a doorway between daylight and dark. Subak worked in Romania during a time when art was expected to be neat and proper, but their canvases refused to play along.
