The Schuyler Limner is a name of convenience for an anonymous portrait painter active in the Hudson Valley and the Albany area of colonial New York in the early 18th century, roughly between 1715 and 1725. The name derives from portraits of members of the Schuyler family attributed to this hand. The painter is frequently identified with Nehemiah Partridge and is also called the Aetatis Suae Limner, because many of the portraits carry the Latin inscription 'Aetatis suae' followed by the sitter's age and the date. The works are early examples of provincial Anglo-Dutch portraiture in the American colonies.
