Portrait of Li Jie

Li Jie is a Song dynasty landscape artist. 1 work is cataloged here, principally at Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Li Jie painted delicate ink-and-color scrolls of rivers, mountains, and fishing villages in China's Southern Song dynasty. The handscroll Fisherman's Lodge at Mount Xisai (around 1170) sets misty peaks above a bamboo grove and a lone boat in soft washes of gray and green, nature framed as close and quiet rather than grand.
